Note: Color blends
and laying patterns shown are the basic blends and patterns
stocked by ALL Appleridge Stone Distributors. Other
color blends and laying patterns popular in certain regions
are stocked in those regions. |

|
|
Buff:
Base color comprises 50% of the blend.
This is a light tan color. Highlight colors make up the balance
of the blend: Medium brown, dark brown, rust brown,
and charcoal gray. |
|
 |
| |
|
|
Gray:
Three base colors are used in the blend. Light gray,
medium gray, and blue gray. Three additional shades
of gray are used as highlight colors, in addition to small
amounts of burnt yellow and muted chocolate brown. |
|
 |
| |
|
|
Appleblend:
A combination of boxes of gray stones and boxes of buff stones.
User blends the stones on the job. The most common blend
is 50% of each, but may be otherwise. |

Laying
Patterns |
|
|
| |
|
|
Flagstone:
Relatively flat, angular stones. Our largest stones appear
in this laying pattern. Stones are laid without
regard to any specific pattern. The example at right
is Gray Flagstone |

Cobblestone:
All squares and rectangles, including a few Ledgestones.
Should be laid in a basic "horizontal" pattern.
No stone should be laid vertically that is more than twice
as long as it is wide. Long continuous mortar joints,
both vertical and horizontal, should be avoided by altering
the size of the stones. The example at right is Buff
Cobblestone. |

Ledgestone:
Long, narrow rectangular stones. Laid in a very tight
pattern without mortar joints, (stone against stone).

Ledgestone. |

Riverstone:
Worn, round shapes. Laid relatively tight to avoid large
triangular joints. Pattern contains some pointed shapes
to help fill triangular areas. The example at right is
shown in 50/50 Appleblend. |
|
 |
| |
|
|
Fieldstone:
Pattern has about 80% Flagstone, with the balance of stone
being Cobblestone, Riverstone, and Ledgestone. Rectangular
stones and large Flagstones with straight lines are
laid horizontally.
The "rustic" look. Typical foundation wall
laying pattern. The example at right is Buff Fieldstone. |

Ridgstone:
Best described as a "weathered" look. Elongated
stones, some of which are rectangular, some irregular and
flat like small Flagstones. Ridgestone has a "rustic"
look. It can be laid with or without a mortar joint.
Coverage is calculated "with" a mortar joint, therefore
the user should order about 15% more stone if it is to be
installed with the "dry stack" (without joint) method. The
example at right is Buff Ridgstone. |

Modified
Cobblestone: Pattern has about 80% Cobblestone
and 20% Flagstone. Outside corners, door and window
frames are done in Cobblestone. An occasional Flagstone
is laid in the body of the pattern. Additional
Flagstones are fitted to that stone's angles until the
pattern returns to verticals and horizontals. The
Cobblestone and Flagstone are boxed separately and must
be blended on the job. The example at right is Gray Modified
Cobblestone. |
